The adventure keeps going
Atlas to Z
Alex and Zoey’s Mirror Map Alphabet Adventure from A to Z
You reached the last page, but the Mirror Map isn’t finished with you yet! Here are more challenges to find, made for kids and grown-ups to try together.
More challenges to find
Try them in any order, as many times as you like.
Find the Mirror Names
There are mirror names hiding somewhere in this book. Did you find them?
Flip through the stories with a grown-up and read the names out loud. Still stuck? Open the hints, one at a time. No peeking ahead!
Hint one
The mirror names belong to two grandparents.
Hint two
You meet one of them early in the book. You meet the other in the very last story.
Hint three
Say one name out loud. Now say it backward, from the last letter to the first.
Found them? Give your grown-up a high five. Then see if a friend can find them, too!
Match the Mirror Buddies
Every letter has a mirror buddy. Fold the alphabet in half and they touch! Tap the letter that is the mirror buddy of the one in the yellow circle.
Stuck on a pair? They are all on page three of the book.
Take a Mirror Walk
Head outside, or explore the house. Find something that starts with A, then something that starts with Z. Next, find a B thing and a Y thing. Then C and X. How many mirror pairs can your family find before the walk is over?
- A↔Z
- B↔Y
- C↔X
Little explorers can point while a grown-up says the word out loud. Bigger kids can take turns choosing the letter. Need the pairs? Check page three of the book.
Your Alphabet Hunt
Your Alphabet Hunt: Read, Explore, Quest, Achieve! Look at the first letter of each word. They spell YAHREQA. Say it: Yuh-REE-kuh! It is the sound you make when you finally figure something out.
- YourY
- AlphabetA
- HuntH
- ReadR
- ExploreE
- QuestQ
- AchieveA
Read
Read a letter’s story out loud together, and listen for the sneaky word hiding inside it.
Explore
Turn to the big picture. Can you spot the sneaky word, and the hidden number, too?
Quest
Take on a challenge, like the ones on this page. Every quest starts with a question.
Achieve
Finish what you started. Color it, say it, show it off. Then take a bow!
Year 1 contests
Five ways to win
Solve It. Enter It. Color It. Create It. Win It! You cracked the Mirror Message? Then you are an Alphabet Hero, and you can go for five prizes in the Year 1 contests, November 15, 2026 to November 15, 2027. Ask a grown-up to sign you up. Play fair: every entry must be all your own work!
- Certificate
1 Every solver wins.
Get it right and your Alphabet Hero certificate arrives by email, with your first name on it, ready to print and color. Every single correct entry wins one.
- $20
2 Launch Heroes: the first 26 get $20.
The hunt opens at 9:00 a.m. Pacific on November 15, 2026. The first 26 correct Mirror Message entries received by December 31, 2026 each win $20, one per Adventurer. That is one Launch Hero for every letter! Send a photo of your filled-in Mirror Key page with your entry.
- $50
3 Color and win, the public votes: $50.
Pick any letter and color its big picture your way, then send in a photo of both pages. It goes into the gallery on YAHREQA.com, shown by entry number and never by name, where grown-ups can vote. Each round, the most-voted picture in each age group (7 and younger; 8 to 12) wins $50. Share your gallery page with family and friends! Round 1: send entries by March 31, 2027, and voting runs through April 30. Round 2: send entries by August 31, 2027, and voting runs through September 30.
- $50
4 Create and win, the public votes: $50.
Pick any letter, write your own story for it, draw its two coloring pages (pages 116 to 119 of the book are waiting for you), and send in a photo of both. The most-voted creation in each age group wins $50 each round, on the same dates as Color and Win. You can win one Color or Create prize in Year 1.
- $500, twice
5 Adventurer of the Year: $500, twice!
The crowd picks the eight round winners, and our judges add two wildcards they loved: ten finalists, five age 7 and younger and five age 8 to 12. All ten get the Final Adventure challenge in October 2027: write a brand-new story, draw its two coloring pages, and color them in. Our judges name one Adventurer of the Year per age group around November 15, 2027. Each wins $500 and becomes a Featured Artist: printed in a future Atlas to Z book (only if a grown-up signs a permission form), with a framed print of the big picture.
How to enter
Entries open at 9:00 a.m. Pacific on November 15, 2026. When you finish the book, a grown-up enters the Mirror Message and all twenty-six sneaky words for you on our entry page. Color and Create entries go in with a photo, so the book never has to be mailed.
No purchase is necessary, and a purchase does not improve your chances: anyone can get the complete book free as a PDF on our entry page, and free and purchased copies count the same. Money prizes are paid through Tremendous: your grown-up picks a gift card or cash.
The mystery does not close when somebody wins. Your Alphabet Hero certificate is waiting whenever you finish. The contests run for one year, and certificates stay open until we post an end date on this page.
For the grown-ups
Play fair: every entry must be the child’s own work, made by hand, with no AI tools and no copied characters. Grown-ups may read, upload and cheer; the drawing, coloring and writing are the child’s.
The entry form asks only for your name and email and your Adventurer’s first name, state and age. Keep faces, last names and school names out of photos. Your Adventurer keeps the rights to their own artwork and stories. Voting is for adults 18 and older, one vote per category, age group and round, confirmed by email.
